This painting is a celebration of sisterhood. “Sis” is a term of endearment often used between women, especially within Black communities. It does not mean we have to be related by blood. It’s a word that reflects closeness, trust, and a shared understanding between us. The quiet support, the laughter, the conversations, and the trust that exist between women. Those moments where someone leans in and says, “sis,” and you already know something interesting is about to be shared.

It took me months to perfect the rich tones of the skin in this piece. I spent a lot of time layering colors and studying light so the warmth, depth, and glow would feel alive on the canvas. Capturing the beauty and richness of Black skin was incredibly important to me.

With their natural hair, expressive faces, and the warmth of the surrounding colors, these women represent connection, confidence, and the comfort of sisterhood.
